Terms of Use

Alatus School™  is proposed to be an independent primary school in the State of Victoria, Australia, that will specialise in gifted learning.

Alatus School is subject to successful assessment by the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (“the VRQA”) for registration as an Independent School. Application for such registration is targeted to be made by 30 June 2019 and may ultimately be accepted, accepted conditionally or declined at the discretion of the VRQA.

Note that, in due course, Alatus School will make its Enrolment Policy & Process available to interested persons. Any and all applications for enrolment at Alatus School must must be made in accordance with the Policy and any eligibility criteria, processes, requests for information, payments, approvals and deadlines prescribed within it. Neither any pre-application process, nor any Application for Enrolment, will guarantee a child a place at Alatus School. All applications for enrolment are subject to assessment by Alatus School in accordance with the Enrolment Policy & Process.

This website is published by Penny Willoughby and Rhonda Ooi (“the Co-founders”), each being Registered Teachers in Victoria and the Co-founders of Alatus School. It is a public informational website designed to cover the period of time from the public announcement of the Co-founders’ intention – subject to registration – to start Alatus School, through to the point of actual registration.

The information contained on this website is general in nature and does not take in to account the circumstances or needs of any individual person. If you are considering taking any action arising from reading this website, including but not limited to considering enrolling your child at Alatus School or expressing your interest as a Mentor, you are encouraged to make your own enquiries to verify that Alatus School will meet your needs.

Whilst the Co-founders have taken reasonable care to ensure the accuracy of all information on this website and believe it to be true, to the extent permitted by law, they assume no legal liability for, and do not warrant that, the information contained on this website is complete or fit for any purpose; or that the content will be free from errors or omissions, however so-caused; or that things may not change over time (for example, once the Alatus School Board is appointed and meets to consider matters within its adopted Constitution; or, as part of the requirements arising from the registration process) thus potentially impacting prior representations made herein. Reasonable efforts have been made (and testing conducted) for this website to be viewable across a variety of common browsers and devices, including mobile devices, and also for it to be accessible by those with a range of special needs. However, as with any website viewable on personal devices over the internet, there remain many factors beyond the Co-founders’ control and access by any party cannot be guaranteed. 

This website uses local caching (ie. storage) of certain site elements such as images to improve site performance. Cookies are used; primarily to help inform website statistics - but these do not identify individual users.

Mindful of enabling good site performance for local users, this website is hosted in Australia. Whilst the Co-founders have taken reasonable care to select a reputable provider for website hosting services, they cannot guarantee that availability of this website will be uninterrupted.

When you submit any information using the eForms embedded in this website, the following Privacy Policy describes how it will be transmitted, stored and used: 

This Initial Privacy Policy is published by Penny Willoughby and Rhonda Ooi (“the Co-founders”), each being Registered Teachers in Victoria and the Co-founders of Alatus School. It is designed to cover the period of time from the public announcement of the Co-founders’ intention – subject to registration – to start Alatus School, through to the point of actual registration.

During this period, interested persons may choose to complete and  submit one of various eForms embedded in this website. No individually identifiable information is collected from users of this website who choose not to complete and submit any of the embedded eForms.

The Co-founders are committed to protecting privacy in accordance with applicable Australian privacy laws. During this period, this means that any information you submit via eForm:

> Will be stored securely upon receipt
> Will not be shared with any third parties
> Will not be used for any purpose other than what it has been submitted for

Any information submitted by eForm is transmitted via an auto-generated email protocol. Mindful of this, the Co-founders have elected to minimise the collection of individually identifiable information electronically – particularly any information identifying children, which will not be sought by the Co-Founders online.

When Pre-enrolments open in due course, the Co-founders will take reasonable steps to secure the conduct of certain exchanges of information, such as, for example, making a payment via credit-card and submitting children’s names.

You may request a copy of all of the information submitted by you to the Co-founders at any time – and for that to be deleted if you so wish. Additionally, any mailing list that you choose to join may be unsubscribed from - without question and at any time - upon written request by you to the Co-founders.
