"Enrol your clever little cupcake at Alatus…"

When Applications for Enrolment open, you’ll be able to find all the information you need on this page - and actually apply to enrol from links that will be posted on this page.

** UPDATED **
Meantime, today, this page contains information to help ensure prospective applicants are well-prepared for the day Applications for Enrolment open:

Some of the items required during the enrolment process may take time to assemble. Applications for Enrolment for Term 1, 2020 will only be open for a comparably short period of time and places will be limited.

Accordingly, all prospective applicants are encouraged to please read this page and begin getting themselves ready per the Eligibility Criteria.

A friendly reminder also to parents that Alatus remains subject to registration as an Independent School, and also to achieving its minimum viable enrolment. Accordingly, as excited as you are - and we are! - about Alatus opening, we may not achieve these (and we may not know until quite late in the process), so, as previously communicated, parents are advised to also have alternative plans in-place for their child for the 2020 school year.

Eligibility Criteria

** UPDATED **

To apply to enrol your child at Alatus, your child must:

  • 1.  Be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident

  • 2.  Turn age 7, 8 or 9 in calendar year 2020^

  • 3.  Have a psychologist-administered, recognised IQ test* report that shows they are in the:
    > Top 5th percentile in one or more sub-scales (eg. Comprehension, Matrix Reasoning, etc.), and
    > Top 20th percentile in three or more other sub-scales.

  • 4.  Be able to read and write at (Victorian Curriculum) Level 2 or above, as evidenced by a teacher’s report, a NAPLAN test result or a skills-based assessment

^Depending on numbers, there is some chance that we may end up also accepting some children turning age 10 in the calendar year 2020 - please watch this space after Applications for Enrolments open.

*Recognised IQ tests include:
> The Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children, Fourth Edition (WISC-IV Australian) [ages 6 to 16 years, 11 months]
> The Wechsler Preschool & Primary Scale of Intelligence – Third Edition (WPPSI-III Australian) [ages 2 years, 6 months to 7 years, three months], and
> The Stanford-Binet.

Early in the enrolment process, together with the Application for Enrolment Form, parents will be asked to supply written evidence of all four of the above criteria - including the actual IQ test result. Accordingly, if prospective applicants do not already have this evidence, they should start assembling it now.

Also early in the enrolment process, a Parent Submission Form and a Learner Submission Form will be provided by Alatus and requested to be completed. Each form adds first-person evidence of the desire of the parent to enrol the child at Alatus, and the apptitude and suitability of the child to benefit from the Alatus Learning Approach™. The Learner Submission Form will be in-part creative and parents should consider talking with their child about this now such that they are prepared to complete it when the time comes for them to do so. Alatus estimates each of these forms will take 30-45 minutes to complete.

Once Applications for Enrolment open...

On the day Applications for Enrolment open, the first thing that prospective applicants should do is return to this website and find out:

  • 1.  Where Alatus School will be located

  • 2.  What the fees will be for the 2020 school year

  • 3.  When the Parent Information Nights will be held

Then…you decide if you wish to apply to enrol your child at Alatus. You can do that straight away - or you can attend a Parent Information Night first.

Meanwhile, again, a reminder that people who have expressed interest for their child will be personally notified when Applications for Enrolment open.

If you decide to apply to enrol...

The moment you decide to apply to enrol your child at Alatus - and this could be before or after the Parent Information Nights begin - then you will need to:

  • 1.  Send us an email (the address will be advised on this page of our website) to request an Application ID. We’ll reply, via email, very quickly with your Application ID. Your Application ID will be unique to you and we’ll ask you to please quote it on all communications and correspondence with us. We will use it to identify you, correctly match up your application documents and track your application right the way through the process.

  • 2.  Once you have your Application ID, click the link we will provide you with that will take you to the location where each of the forms we require to be completed will be posted.

  • 3.  Complete the forms and follow the instructions to securely submit them - together with scans of the other mandatory documents - to us online. You “can” email them to us instead if you wish, but please be advised that email is not inherently secure. We will also have an option for you to post them to us if you prefer not to share any information electronically.

  • 4.  Pay the Application Fee of $150 via EFT or cheque. This fee will be deductible from the first Term’s fees upon their payment by the due date and fully refundable in the case of Alatus not being registered as an Independent School in sufficient time to open for Term 1, 2020, or not meeting its minimum viable enrolment. This fee is otherwise non-refundable - no matter the outcome of your application to enrol.

Before an interview will be considered, the following requirements must be received:

1.  The completed Application for Enrolment Form
2.  The Parent Submission Form
3.  The Learner Submission Form
4.  The IQ test report

Upon receipt of all these requirements, we will assess your application and get back in-touch with you - again, you can expect this to happen very quickly.

In order for an interview to be confirmed, the following requirements - if not already provided - must also be provided at-least 48-hours prior to the scheduled time of the interview:

 1.  Evidence of date of birth
 2.  Evidence of Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency
